Snow Ice Cream

Yesterday we had our first decent snow of the winter (we had a little earlier on, but no accumulation).

We decided to make some snow ice cream with it.  Normally I just use some milk, sugar, and vanilla for snow ice cream, but I saw this recipe on Wannabe Southern Cook and wanted to try it.

It is a really easy recipe, just three ingredients.

8 C clean snow
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla

Mix it all together and eat!

It melts faster then regular ice cream does, and honestly this recipe was a little sweet for me.  Next time I will just add more snow!   The kids all seemed to enjoy it though.  The girls wanted chocolate on theirs, and Eli was happy with it plain.

If you have snow (clean snow), I would definitely recommend making some ice cream!

  8. We LOVE making snow ice cream. Bunny and the playschool children expect it a few times each winter! We use whole milk, some organic cane sugar, and vanilla to make ours. Thanks for sharing with us at Eco Kids Tuesday! Hope you come back this week!

I will be featuring this tomorrow!

  9. What a great idea! So, in your opinion, which is tastier, the version with sweetened condensed milk and vanilla, or the version with regular milk, sugar, and vanilla?

    1. The one made with the sweetened condensed milk is creamier which I prefer, but it is also sweeter, so I think more snow might be in order, at least for me! The kids loved it as is!

    2. Thank you! I live in Michigan and we have about 12" of snow on the ground so far and school was already called off for tomorrow. This will be a great activity to do with my kiddos when they are home and bored and hungry :)
